When it comes to movies, I tend to be drawn to stories that really tug at the heartstrings, you know? I love films that explore deep family bonds, the power of selfless love, and the grit it takes to persevere. I’ve noticed that a lot of newer movies have some of these elements, but I personally think, they just don’t seem to capture that same magic as the older ones. I guess I’m a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to movies and those classic themes.
Grave of Fireflies (Ghibli)
The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind
Taare Zameen Par
Fireproof
Kita kita
Facing the Giants
Black Panther
Hunger Games
The Chronicles of Narnia
The Spiderwick Chronicles
If we put it in simpler terms, these movies have a few themes in common that make them so great:
- Family Love: Whether they’re related by blood or just super close, each movie has a story about families sticking together and loving each other.
- Doing the Right Thing/ sacrifice: The characters in each of these movies make some seriously tough choices and often do things that might seem crazy just to help out other people.
- Grit/ resilience: No matter how hard life gets, these movies show people who just won’t quit.
💙 Love does not give up. Love is kind. Love is not jealous. Love does not put itself up as being important. Love has no pride. Love does not do the wrong thing. Love never thinks of itself. Love does not get angry. Love does not remember the suffering that comes from being hurt by someone. Love is not happy with sin. Love is happy with the truth. Love takes everything that comes without giving up. Love believes all things. Love hopes for all things. Love keeps on in all things. Love never fails…
