Sunset’s golden light
Casts calm upon my soul
Breathe deep, find rest
With my best, I smiled today
Work paused, better side awaits.
Sunset’s orange glow
Calms my soul, peace fills my heart
Take a deep breath
I smile at my best efforts
Work on hold, better self emerges.

This is my first time making a tanka poem. The tanka is a 31-syllable poem that’s usually written in one big line. It’s a type of Japanese poetry called waka, which means “short song” in Japanese. Tanka is more commonly known for its 5-line format with a syllable count of 5/7/5/7/7, making it kind of like a short but sweet poem! 😌🍃
