tiny and dark, a speck unseen,
a small, mysterious spot so clean
an egg it was, yet hard to spot,
a bother it was not, minute as a dot,
it seemed a tiny plot
will it grow a lot?
when I turned my back,
in but a moment’s slack,
a while, a fleeting sigh,
it’s presence I did not spy
in webs itself had wrapped,
engulfed in its own mask,
a moment’s carelessness,
left me with a plight’s mess
alas, the speck, it did elude,
a search, a quest, my vision skewed.
wrapped in its mask, its whereabouts unknown,
a mirage, a mystery, its location unshown.
should I turn every stone,
scour every crevice, every zone?
or has it built home on his own
with a breath of life, it did transform,
no longer a speck, but a creature born
with many wings, not one being,
a mask still covering, its secret keeping
unknowingly, I did consume
this creature of mystery, in its full bloom
alas, a mistake, a loss of grace
the darkness cloaked, a bitter taste
