Embracing Stormy Nights in Nature’s Poetic Dance
On a hot evening, sweltering beyond belief,
I sat on my porch, drenched in sweat, seeking relief.
Though the sun had long since set,
I was fooled by the heat, feeling no cool air yet.
Steam rose from the ground, enveloping my every side,
Telling my body it was midday, refusing to abide.
Oh, the tricks the heat can play,
Making my evening feel like a midday foray.
The night arrived, its stars twinkling bright,
quiet lullaby soothing me into sleep through the night.
Deeply slumbering, my alarm tried to pierce through the dark,
But the dawn’s cool embrace incessant remark,
“Sleep a little more, before it’s time to embark.”
The morning chill lulled me back to dreams of a cool night,
I found myself convinced that more slumber would be just right.
The night’s temperature had indeed cast a spell,
I surrendered to sleep’s embrace, my eyes no more to tell.
With coolness in the air, the day unfolded fair and slow,
The sun, a shy companion, refusing to play and show.
Clouds gathered around, their power swelled,
Sealing the sunlight in a cottony, gray-white shell.
At 2PM, the clouds triumphed,
Their shadows stretched, a victory march they tromped.
The winds followed, whispering through the trees,
A chilly symphony of nature’s pleas.
The day closed with dark clouds as victors of the sky,
For me, the day’s turn to gloom mattered not,
As my world was already wrapped in a darken lot.
The shadows danced with the moaning winds,
A melancholic chorus, how eerie, it sends.
The motionless leaves of the ground, now dry and brown,
erect with ghostly waltz they danced, this eerie they found.
The city’s slow dance was interrupted with a mighty thunder,
As heavy clouds, pregnant with rain, rumbled and blundered.
The drizzles came, a gentle prelude to what’s to come,
I ran, looking for refuge, wanting to escape the thunder’s drum.
The doors slammed shut, a barricade from nature’s might,
But even through the walls, I heard the rain’s increasing plight.
And so, the city faded, engulfed by nature’s tears,
this thousand downpour makes the atmosphere unclear,
and more to a million drops, appeared
Wind and rain, a violent duet,
Dancing to a rhythm the city couldn’t forget.
Rivers of water surged, no longer constrained,
Bubbling, gurgling, a fury unleashed, unrestrained.
A lake of mud and mire now flooded the streets
Now, we know, the rain is here!
