Taking Care of Intangible Possessions Rather Than Losing Them
In my mind, the things that really matter in life – faith, family, and friends – aren’t things you can touch or hold. They’re more like eternal possessions, soulful parts of life that are worth way more than any amount of money or stuff. They’re what give my life purpose, and if I lose them, it’s like losing everything. Hence, the best thing I can do is focus on keeping my faith, family, and friends strong. I’d rather put all my energy into making sure those things stay healthy and happy, than worry about what I’d do if I lost them. It’s better to prevent something bad from happening than try to fix it after the fact, right?

Possessions are not limited to material things, but they can be the things that defines my life’s purpose. The things I value most in life are my faith, family, and friends because they contribute to my success. I define success not in terms of how many things I have or how popular I am, but in whether I’m content with the results of my efforts. If I feel like I put in a lot of effort and got a good outcome in proportion to that effort, that’s success to me.
It is good to be financially fluent, but material goods and wealth are fleeting and temporary, so they don’t mean as much to me as these other things. It’s all about the intangible things in life that intertwines with the soul. My faith, family and friends give my life purpose, and if I lose them, it’s like I’m losing my whole reason for being here. I believe that these things have a kind of eternal quality that can last beyond life and death. The state of my soul is way more important than any amount of money or material possessions.
Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Matthew 6:20
