The Bait and Switch: Love Laced with Greed
with a friendly smile he greets,
and checks on me with grit
if I have been well at least
“You can eat,” he says,
offers a meal without delays
he shows kindness and ease

he helps with my luggage,
such a venerated language
sorting it out the brand with care
he secures my stuff
Cause he realized they’re tough
the price seems a lot
And with grace he kneels,
taking off my shoes, he appeals
“Are these the new model, my dear?”
and he gently slips on a pair
some boiling water, I hear
then a cup of tea appears

boiling water and fresh leaves
he adds green and mints
with the best care, my soul he eases
he attends with so much passion,
to know much is my compensation
assuring a desire of fruition
when the time came to go,
he wishes for more money to flow
he puts back my shoes, too
and to my home he drove
like we’re going to a cove
all this time, interested in may haul
his acts of kindness
is not a token of goodness
so that I went home
casting away his deceitfulness
