A Poem of Admiration (inspired by The Song of Solomon)
Poem by Zerayn D.
For Him
tales of your might in the village spread
you lend a hand to women and children
praises of your kindness spread like scents
whoever smells it learns what men are made to be
ladies adore you like a narra tree
your branches gracefully toss in the wildness of winds
the fragrance of your yellow blooms reaches from the yards of the neighbors
to the outstretched forest canopies of Asia
Oh, how charming and handsome you are!

This writing is inspired by the Song of Songs. It is also called “The Song of Solomon.” The whole book can be interpreted as a poetic allegory of the love between Christ and His church. The poem may be seen as an escapist form of literature. It offers a form of refuge from the complex realities of Solomon’s world. Irrespective of its interpretation, the Song of Solomon is widely regarded as a beautiful love song. It expresses the human experience of love through the power of poetry.
