Token from scraps
When I was young, wedding souvenirs were typically made from handcrafted materials such as woven items, beads, wood, pine needles, and discarded calaverite ores.
I challenged myself to create my own souvenirs using only hot glue, wooden pine slabs, discarded ribbons, and quartz debris. Quartz, like calaverite, is a byproduct of gold mining, considered low quality and not a viable source of gold dust.
After finishing a piece, I gifted it to a friend and continued making more. I was enjoying the hobby until, a few weeks later, I found out that the friend who received it didn’t really appreciate it—she looked down on it. To make matters worse, my dad stopped me and said I was wasting the hot glue. He explained that it was mainly used to fix their dentures when they broke, serving as a quick and easy solution.
As a child, I tried making my own souvenirs from materials like beads, wood, and quartz debris. I tried creating my own mainly using hot glue, pine slabs, and ribbons, but when I gifted one to a friend, I learned she didn’t appreciate it. My dad also stopped me.
Now, I focus on other forms of crafting, such as blogging.
