perspectives, character building

My first visit to Malaysia was a few months before the pandemic came about. Recently, I set another visit and Malaysia never fails to surprise me.

The lake symphony at Suria KLCC appeared more fascinating and enchanting. With every fountain symphony, I was entranced by the flowing water, dancing to the rhythm of the music, creating a mesmerizing light show.

I must be tired that day walking around the place too much, that watching the fountain had me transfixed. So, I started thinking. Life, much like the fountain show, is a grand symphony.

The water swirls, curls and bends in harmony with the changing hues of light. Then in a flash, it makes a spectacular splash as it lands back into the lake. Once a symphony is over, it rests awhile and the water dances one more time.

In life, it’s either we follow a symphony or we make our own. Each beat, whether fast-paced, steady, or moderate, sets the rhythm of our lives. Sometimes we swirl and bend gracefully. Sometimes we flow with ease. Yet, there are times we jerk and fall.

Fortunately, it does not end there. When life’s symphony ends, it’s a moment of stillness, a pause to reconfigure and recharge for the next performance. Once more, we start the next show of life in motion. It does not matter how we bend, swirl or fall. Graceful or not, life goes on.

A collection of reflective writings from a bored and an introvert teacher.
