Giving a Million Dollars: Changing Lives Together
If I were to give away a million dollars, I would make a decision that could positively impact more than one life.
I would give a million dollars to a young beggar who goes with an older beggar. Together, the younger can use the money to bring an old beggar with him on his journeys. The young beggar, with his youthful vigor, would be able to guide and assist the elder in their travels, helping her to see and experience the wonders of the world that she may have otherwise never known.

The old beggar, despite her impoverished state, has carried within her a wealth of wisdom and compassion. Though she had sacrificed much in her life, including the comforts of a home and regular meals, she had never lost the capacity to care for others. She had once taken a young child under her wings. She chose to offer protection and care to a young child on her travels, selflessly sacrificing her own comfort, protecting and providing for them to the best of her ability.
With a million dollars at her disposal, the old beggar could finally enjoy the simple things in life that she had been without for so long. This would also be especially meaningful for her if sadly, she is nearing the end of her life. She can also inspire the younger by sharing her accrued wisdom. By doing so, the younger will make use of this money appropriately, and make better decisions to outlive his past. In addition to this, the younger could potentially use this newfound wealth to extend aid to other unfortunate individuals with the guidance of the elder, so that they will not grow old in this misfortune. Eventually, it can lead to breaking the cycle of destitution that had plagued the older beggar’s life.
“What God the Father considers to be pure and genuine religion is this: to take care of orphans and widows in their suffering and to keep oneself from being corrupted by the world.” James 1:27
