We recognize there is Friendship Day, World Peace Day, Valentines Day and other similar festivals of sacrifice for forgiveness. Their purpose is great, relational and reflective. However, the impact is not so much of a lasting personal experience.

I then deeply wish to establish a “Universal Reconciliation Day”. This emphasizes that everyone, no matter age, race, religion, and gender shall come together and forgive. It must be at a personal level and be observed in a safe space. The end goal, relationships would be healed, restored and rebuilt. Love shall rise again.

Whether the fault has long been in the past, forgiveness will provide closure and peace.
Whether the error is still fresh, forgiveness will contribute to its cure.
Whether the mistake is intentional or not, forgiveness will heap the burning coals of anger.
Whether the mishaps were a result of series neglects, forgiveness will enlighten minds.

And that is why we do not have this holiday because it is profoundly challenging to do.
