Slaying an Extemporaneous Speech
Once in a toastmaster’s meeting, I participated in the table topics. It is an impromptu speech that runs for a minute. You would only have 30 seconds to prepare.
The topics would be random and each participant would pick. I picked a phrase that says, “Kissing at a Midnight Stroke”. At that time, the phrase was totally unheard of, but I don’t want to disappointment myself and the audience. Thinking quickly, I treated it figuratively instead. In my speech, I explained my interpretation. I mentioned that having family devotions and praying together is my figurative way of “Kissing at a Midnight Stroke.”
I learned some days later that it was taken from a Japanese manga. The manga is entitled “Kiss me at a midnight stroke”. It was a novel about high school romance.
