So I found this news entitled, Wild Przewalski’s horses return to Kazakhstan after 200 years by Al Jazeera.

Well, as someone not particularly fond of horses and not from Kazakhstan, it’s difficult for me to connect with this news. The excitement and celebration surrounding the reintroduction of the horses is certainly obvious, but I find myself asking why it’s such a big deal. Although I see the importance of conserving endangered species, but I guess I’m just out of the loop on this one.😅

As I think more about my relation to the news, I had a bit of a breakthrough. The struggle to connect with this story is much like the struggle to communicate and empathize with people who are very different from us. In the absence of shared experiences or common ground, it can be difficult to build a connection, let alone fully understand or appreciate someone else’s perspective. But, if we strive to find those little gems of shared experience or values, even a slight connection can bring us closer to understanding and accepting those who are different from us.

Let’s care about them as much as we care about ourselves. Philippians 2:4

In a heartening move for biodiversity conservation, Przewalski’s horses, once critically endangered, have been reintroduced to their native Central Kazakhstan after 200 years of absence. The first group of 7 horses were transported from the Prague Zoo in early June, with plans to reintroduce a total of 40 horses in the next 5 years. The wild horses, named after the Russian explorer who first described them, had disappeared from the wild in the 1960s but were preserved in captivity.
